My 16 month daughter's left armpit showed a patch of redness.
What can this possibly be? She does not seem to show signs of irritation.

Photo taken uploaded for reference (photo is bit bright, the real redness show a little bit more red),

Greetings,

Thank you for your question.

I am Dr. SS. I will try my best to help you.

When did it appear?

Is it increasing in size?

Is there any other patch in other parts of body?

Do you feel any lump or swelling beneath the area?

Does she have any other symptom?

Hello Doctor.

We just noticed it today.

No we don't seem to find other patches. But there is some slight pink nearby at that armpit too.

The swelling resembles like a mosquito bite when pressed, just slightly swollen.

Her neck has two pink patches like 1cm diameter, but light in color. We are not sure if it is just due to some rough housing or the warm bath just now.

Hello Inelle,

Thank you for the input.

Allergy can be possible from any bite.

From history it seems to be an allergy.

Dermatitis or contact with an irritant is another possibility.

In bacterial infection such redness can be present but she should feel some pain when you touch the area.

The patch can be due to fungal infection too but fungal infection may not appear suddenly.

You can watch now how it progresses.

Allergy can subside by its own.

Sometimes we use steroid cream.

For small baby we do not like to use medicine, if it is not required.

If it does not show any improvement, it should be checked by doctor in person.
