My daughter is 5 months pregnant and will be moving into our basement apt. before the baby is born. We have a dehumidifier running all the time. My question is, will this be safe for the baby living in the basement?

I'll do my best to answer your question. If you're available for chat, let's get started. If not, I can switch to an e-mail format.
The main concerns about living in a basement would be for temperature and humidity/mold exposure.
If the basement is finished and temperature controlled and you have the dehumidifier running you're probably ok to have them stay there. If there's a known mold problem there you should make other arrangements. The temperature of the basement needs to be about 72 degrees or warmer or you'll have to be careful about the baby getting too cold.
Hope that helps! Feel free to reply if needed. If I've answered to your complete satisfaction kindly rate my answer prior to leaving the site.
Thank you for the information-it really helps us. There is no mold present and we haven't had a problem with that so far. Would an "air purifier" be helpful too? I had no idea about the temperature. Thank you for letting us know that too.
An air purifier certainly wouldn't hurt but likely isn't entirely necessary.
We weren't sure about it, but if it helps a little, why not. The basement is finished and the humidifier runs 24/7. I empty the water our everyday and is completely full. Thanks again for your information-it makes us feel better!
My pleasure to assist! Enjoy your grandbaby!
Thank you so much! You were excellent!
