My 8 yr old granddaughter recently had a fever and rash. Tests

Resolved Question:

My 8 yr old granddaughter recently had a fever and rash. Tests confirmed she had human parvo virus. Now her fingernails are coming off, but only on 1 hand. Some from the actual nail bed, others from the top. What could be causing this?

PediatricMD :

It would appear that this may be an uncommon immunological reaction

PediatricMD :

that can occur due to various virus infections including Human Parvovirus infection

PediatricMD :

This may require a revisit to the specialist, since fingernails coming out of nail beds suggests possible severe reaction and may need specialized treatment like Immunogobulin, steroids etc to help her get better,

Now my granddaughter has thrush, and they also gave her antibiotocs. They did a blood draw on Wednesday and her white count dropped from 7.4 to 3.2. since her blood was checked 10 days prior. What in the world causes white count to drop that suddenly?
Expert:  Dr. Gupta replied 4 years ago.
I am unable to comment on the fall of WBC count, there can be many reasons, including a body response to infection, or even lab errors related to automated blood processing,
Absolute counts (part of differential counts) and a repeat blood test should give a better picture,
