Hi, and thank you for coming to JustAnswer.com with your question.

Do you know how much he ingested? Was it just from the cartridge?

Customer replied 341 days and 15 hours ago.

yes it was just a few drops, enough to make his mouth black

Ball point pen or ink itself?

I think you may have had a typo earlier which is why I sent the follow-up question.
If it is a few drops -- ESPECIALLY if it is from a ball point pen, then there is really nothing at all to worry about. Usually even a large ingestion of that would not cause any terrible problems.

Right now all you would have to do is wash out his mouth.
In the extremely extremely unlikely even that he starts behaving abnormally (though I can't see why he would) then you can have it checked out further.
You also should know that any time you are afraid of a poisoning of any type you can call the poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. This is a toll free number that works anywhere in the united states.

I will be leaving the computer shortly and not be on until tomorrow night, but I will try to make sure over the next half hour that you don't have any new questions.

Just one added note. I have a three year old myself, and I would feel completely comfortable just washing out his mouth and making sure he couldn't get into the pens again .... (wait until he turns three -- my son has colored my walls with permanent marker!)

G-d Bless

If you have any follow-up questions for me please feel free to ask them.
