Hello! My name is XXXXX XXXXX son of 5 years old has high fever for couple days, fever appears straight away after stomach pain, he also has nausea. and hes breath have not very nice smell. Could it be apendicitis?
Hi I would be happy to help you today.
Can you tell me where the abdominal pain is exactly.
If he were to lie flat and you divide his stomach into 4 sections with the belly button in the middle - is the pain top left, top right, bottom right , bottom left
he shows me it is under his belly button, can't say exactly where
is he not able to tell you because it is all over
or is it in one spot
can you push on the different areas and see if one area is more painful
no because it hurts everywhere
ok if it hurts everywhere it is very unlikely to be appendicitis
appendicitis pain starts very specifically over the belly button and then moves to the lower right area
i think he is just too small yet to explain the pain
does he have a sore throat
yes a little bit
strep throat can cause bad breath, nausea, abdominal pain
and high fever?
Can you look in his mouth with a flash light and see if the tonsils are very red or have white pus on them
yes and high fever
unfortunately I can't do it at the moment, because he fell asleep just now
ok, I would look in his mouth when he wakes up
strep throat is not an emergency and antibiotics can be started after days of the initiation of illness
but it needs to be treated completely with antibiotics.
it's weekend now and I won't be able to see a doctor till monday, maybe even tuesday
that should be fine as long as you can keep the fever manageable with tylenol and keep him hydrated with fluids
he does not have to eat much, but does need to drink fluids. If he starts vomiting, or looking very sick to you. I would try to get him seen sooner.
well he drinks lots since fever started
that is good that he is drinking. some kids refuse
he wakes during night and can drink up to 2 cups of water
that is no problem.
ok. Thank u. I shall see a GP as soon as possible.
sounds good. hope he he feels better soon.
hope so, because it looks like he's getting worse since wednesday.
ok. thanks for help.
he just needs to start antibiotics from the sounds of it.
you are very welcome.
