My Grandson who is 3 months old has a swollen scrotum on one side and has been to the doctor and they think a inguinal hernia or hydrocele. He is scehduled for an ultrasound on Friday. My dauther stated that it looks more swollen and bruised and that the underside of the penis looks a bluish color and is concerned. the blusish hugh on the underside of hte penis is new. She is going to take him into the hospital. Waht do you think could be happening?

there is no pain or tenderness and no blood in the stools.

Yes, he should get an examination in the hospital. There can be a few possibilities. In case of hernia there can be obstruction or strangulation. Those are emergencies. There can be other conditions like a torsion of testis, bleeding or infection.
