Hi,My daughter is 6 years old, has some hearing difficulty some times. The doctors diagnose that she has some fluid in her ear and they need to vacuum it or she will suffer permanent hearing problem. They claim its common issue with kids but we have some friends there kid suffer infections after this surgery since they implant a tube to drain this fluid, another doctor advice them it was a mistake to do this surgery since there are many cases which the fluid has been Disappeared by it self or by taking some tablets. Please advice what I should do?

What she has is called glue ear.About half of all cases of glue ear in children resolve by itself within 3 months.Treatment is given only if the symptoms last longer than 3 months or hearing loss is significant.
RK,what about the surgery is it recommended? Thanks
Surgery is indicated only when there is significant hearing loss in both ears or if she has any other associated condition which may affect her learning and speech.
