my daughter is throwing up and has no fever, but has thrown

Resolved Question:

my daughter is throwing up and has no fever, but has thrown up twice in the past four hours. What could be the case? The only thing she is complaining about is an upset stomach. But after throwing up she says she feels fine. the only thing she said she ate was PB&J sandwich and fruit salad. She had for dinner was bean borrito but says she was feeling sick before then.

Hello e c, Sorry for your daughter's symptom. She can have sugar or glucose drinks, only 2-3 oz at a time, with a dash of common-salt added. Repeat this every 10-20 minutes, till she is cured. You may continue antacid syrup provided she feels acid taste in mouth at time of vomiting.

is ginger ale good to give to her for sugar drinks? What do you think it is, a stomach virus or food poisoning?
Expert:  Dr. Yogindra Vasavada replied 6 years ago.

Hello again,

She may consume ginger ale provided the vomit is not sour or acidic. Then, only plain glucose/sugar drink will be suitable.

In between sugary sips, she also may consume lemonade, soda etc.

Mostly she must be having digestive upset, which is self curing if solid food is withheld for half a day or so.

Viral attack usually has some fever, moderate pain etc.

Food poisoning entails more than one member of family being affected.
