Hello Customer!
The most common way a baby is exposed to gonorrhea or chlamydia (two sexually transmitted diseases) is through the birth canal during birth. They can cause a variety of infections from eyes to pneumonia. The test is done on a swab or urine and is a DNA amplification test for the bacteria and is the most accurate means to check for exposure. Mothers do not always have symptoms and may not even know they are a carrier.
Good Luck
Hope this helps!
