my son is 3.5 yr old.....writing abcd.. lower caps, capitol letters does not interest him. how the interest can be created. please guide

Coach Jen K. :

Hi and welcome. I'm a Licensed Master Social Worker with 20+ years experience working with individuals and families. I am also a mom of twins.

Coach Jen K. :

In my opinion the interest will come when he is ready. Often as parents we feel the pressure to force interest or to get them to know their alphabet and colors and so forth, but all kids develop at their own pace.

Coach Jen K. :

do you have concerns that he is not capable of learning or just isnt showing the interest yet.

Customer:

just isnt showing the interest yet.

Customer:

what is essential at this age for him to learn

Coach Jen K. :

Sometimes just sitting alongside him and writing the letters may get his interest rather than trying to include him. If he sees you doing it then he may want to as well.

Coach Jen K. :

is he in any type of school yet?

Customer:

ok.. i will try this

Customer:

yes pre school

Coach Jen K. :

I might ask the teachers if he has an interest there because many times they show interest in school but not at home with us. That is very normal

Customer:

ok... thank for making me little worry free

Customer:

thank you so much

Coach Jen K. :

It is my pleasure. All is fine. Touch base with his teachers and something tells me if he were showing any problems they would have mentioned it.

Coach Jen K. :

let me know at any time how he s doing

Customer:

sure jen :)

Customer:

thank you
