Hello and thank you for consulting JA,

First, be sure that the discomfort is not an ear infection. If baby has had a runny nose and/or fever, it is best to rule out ear infection (the most frequent cause of fussy baby). If not ear infection:
  • Continue with Tylenol
  • Rub baby's swollen gum with something cold like a wet wash cloth of terry cloth toy that has been in the freezer.
  • Rub the gum with your clean finger.
  • Allow chewing on a hard toy or a pacifier...or that wet wash cloth.
  • If it is not tome for sleep...distraction with interesting activity may help.
  • Give cold water or cold food to eat (applesauce)

Good luck and I hope one of these suggestions works....
