Well, Bruising and swelling are normal after such surgery and vary from one individual to another.
Bruising and swelling may continue to increase over the first two weeks after your surgery.
One could have swelling in entire leg, including foot.
You can follow these measures to reduce swelling and bruising-
2. Ice -Place ice packs on the affected area for 20 minutes, then remove the ice for 20 minutes. Repeat this for 2 hours at a time.
3. Compress- You can wear compression stockings , it help to minimize swelling. Wear these as much as possible for the first 4 weeks following surgery.
4. Elevate – Elevating your leg will help reduce swelling.
Usually, By 2-3 weeks after surgery you would be walking well with minimal pain.
Hope this helped
