Hello
I amCustomeran orthopedic surgeon and I would be happy to help you today.
I need some more information.
What is your age and gender?
Do you feel that your knee gets locked?
Do you have any swelling around the knee?
Did you get any swelling around the knee at the time of injury?
Did your hip start paining a month ago?
Do you get any catching sensation in the hip as well?
Have you had any investigation or treatment till date for the problem?
Thanks
PS This is not an answer and only an information request. It has been posted as an answer when I inadvertently touched the answer button on my smartphone.

Thanks for your reply.
I would suspect meniscus tear in your knee if the catching or locking has been present since the time of injury.Meniscus a semi circular pad of cartilaginous tissue in the knee which acts a shock absorber.
Knee problem can cause a referred pain to hip and that can be the cause of your pain but if you are having a catching sensation in the hip as well a separate problem of the hip should be ruled out.A Labrum tear can be a possible cause but that would need a clinical examination by an orthopedic surgeon and maybe an investigation like MR arthrography to delineate.
Feel free to ask any follow-up questions.

Is there surgery that can be done to the hip for this
Expert:  Dr.Sawhney replied 1 year ago.
We are running ahead of ourselves.
We first need to find out what is causing this problem.Surgical treatment would be considered only when we are sure about the cause of the problem.
If a Labrum tear is proven to be the cause surgical treatment is possible.
