orthosportsdoc :

Hi there. I'm sorry you are having a problem with your knee.

Customer :

yes

Customer :

i really recentey like 2-3 weeks

orthosportsdoc :

Did you have any injury? Are you otherwise healthy? Are you an active individual?

Customer :

no in jury last time i was playing soccer in the beach was in march

Customer :

but i dont do regular excersise , my work sitting on pc for 11 hr daily

orthosportsdoc :

Where exactly does it hurt on your knee? The front, the back, the inside (medial), the outside (lateral)? Does it hurt to squat? Does it swell when you walk?

Customer :

no notice of swell , hurt on squat not every time , the pain in front and side like said not every time

orthosportsdoc :

It sounds like the problem could either be arthritis of the kneecap joint (patellofemoral joint) or the joint line or a tear of the meniscus. Are you able to walk OK?

Customer :

mainly on upstairs or standing from the ground , i dont feel comfortable when i bent it for long time

Customer :

walk ok no prblem

Customer :

what should make confirm x rays or mri

orthosportsdoc :

So I think the best two diagnoses are some arthritis in the knee and meniscus tear. If you did not have an accident then it is probably some early arthritis. Yes, first the doctor will examine the knee to see if it is global knee pain or if it is at the joint line. An xray will be taken and will show if there is arthritis.

orthosportsdoc :

If the xray is normal and you have joint line pain, then an MRI would be able to show cartilage injury or meniscus tear.

Customer :

what cost of visit with no insurance

orthosportsdoc :

If they offer you an injection then that is reasonable. You are of the age where the joints start to wear out and cause small problems.

orthosportsdoc :

The cost is variable. I think an office visit for a primary care doctor is probably around $150. For a specialist is probably around $250. Xrays are probably $50 to $100.

orthosportsdoc :

It also depends what part of the country you live in.

Customer :

texas

Customer :

is there something i cacn do like make excersise may be my muscle is weak or it doesnt appeear that

orthosportsdoc :

Typically for an acute inflammation of the knee, start with rest, ice, elevation, and compression. Stationary biking and swimming are both non weight bearing exercise that will strengthen the leg. How much do you weigh and how tall are you?

Customer :

207 ib 5 11"

orthosportsdoc :

Well one of the only things that has proven to help arthritic knee pain is having a low body mass index or basically being skinnier and lighter on your knees. However given your height 207 is not bad.

orthosportsdoc :

Prior to the 2 or 3 weeks your knees were 100% fine?

Customer :

yes

Customer :

i have some recent stress on work

Customer :

is the flat feet affect

orthosportsdoc :

It is unlikely that flat feet would affect the knee.

orthosportsdoc :

If you were 100% fine before and you cannot afford to see a doctor, then over the next 3 weeks rest the knee, ice it, take anti-inflammatory medication over the counter such as ibuprofen. Only do activity or exercises that does not cause pain. Gradually increase your activity until you are back to normal. The standard protocol for knee pain is really conservative measures for 4 to 6 weeks before ordering expensive tests such as an MRI.

Customer :

are u consider not continous pain as these case

Customer :

or dosnt matter

Customer :

as i feel one time and other not

Customer :

any way i apprecite your value time , it really helps

I don't understand your follow up question about the continuous pain. Can you clarify?

Customer replied 325 days and 5 hours ago.

What imean is on and off not continuous for example when getting upstairs one time get pain and another. Time. Not .

another question I have v high deductible if I said I don't. Have insurance ,the doctor can discover that I have insurance?

If the pain is migratory or intermittent (on and off), that is OK. It better if it in on and off than if it is continuous. This means that the irritation is not constant which is a better prognosis.

If you have insurance you should tell the doctor that you do. However, if you don't tell him he has no way of discovering that fact.

I hope I have answered your questions. Feel free to accept or follow up. Thanks and good luck.
