There can be many, many causes of a swollen leg. One important one is a blood clot in the large veins of your leg. If this is the cause of your swelling it needs to be evaluated and treated ASAP as there is a risk that the a clot could break off and go to your lungs.....

If it is an infection as you suspect then antibiotics would be needed to control it.....

Many systemic issues can also cause swelling of your legs.....

In any event, I strongly feel that your best course of action, especially with the weekend just around the corner, is to contact your MD and have her take a look at your leg.
