Customer Question

What could be the cause of a hard (bony) lump on the back of my skull?

It feels like bone that is protruding from the back of my skull on the left side, and is not movable. Dimensions appear to be (0.8 inch wide x 0.7 inch tall x 0.25 inch protrusion). I have attached a sample diagram to show roughly where it is. It appeared about 3 months ago, does not seem painful. When I first observed it, it felt kind of big to the touch (see approximate dimensions above). I think it might have grown a little bit, but it's tough to tell if it has.

While there is no significant pain that affects my life, sometimes I get slightly sharp pains around that area.

Sounds like a harmless bony growth called as an osteoma.

Something that is very common and nothing to worry about at all whatsoever.

If if is not bothering you I would just leave it.
