This is Dr. David
a PET scan should only be done if you have known cancer in your body.
an SUV of 3.7 is not that high
a cold or flu infection causing reactive lymph nodes to swell up can cause your lymph node to have SUV of 3.7. so this doesn't mean you have cancer in this lymph node.
why did you have this PET/CT scan?
do you have a known cancer in your body?
where is this lymph node?
the PET scan can't tell if it is cancer or inflammation
you need a biopsy of that lymph node to know what it is
you can have an FNA fine needle aspiration if you have good cytotechs and a pathologist who is good in cytopathology.
or you can have a core needle biopsy
or a surgeon can go in and excise the whole lymph node so the pathologist can have enough tissue to make the diagnosis.
26 x 40mm is a good sized lymph node and needs to be biopsied.
