Oncology Questions? Ask an Oncologist for Answers ASAP
This is Dr. David
are you a smoker?
do you have the CT scan report of the chest?
did your doctor refer you to a cancer doctor yet?
I am glad you don't smoke.
I take it you don't have the CT scan report.
you will need the oncologist to do more workup including a biopsy of the mass to see what type of lung cancer it is.
you need a full body PET/CT scan to see if anything spread to other parts of your body ( if this is a lung cancer) and also you need a brain MRI scan as well.
there are several types of lung cancer.
some lung cancers have genetic mutations like EGFR mutations or ALK1 mutations or ROS mutations which can affect your treatment choices.
a biopsy of the mass from a bronchoscopy or a CT guided biopsy can give this information
your doctors might have to refer you to see a pulmonologist to get a biopsy.
let me know if you have other questions.
I can't see the mass.
it could be benign.
if you get a copy of your chest CT scan report, I can review it with you
it could be scar tissue or from pneumonia.
I can't tell, since I can't see your scan
if you get a copy of your CT scan on disk, you can upload the images up on a web sharing website like drop box and post the http address here.
and I can download the images and review it with you
