I had ILC right breast coming up 4 years ago. Wide Area excision and margins were clear with no spread to ln. About 6 weeks ago, I thought I had a sudden chest infection. The cough is still with me after I finished antibiotics and I have difficulty breathing. My chest feels heavy and it always feels like I need to cough. I puff out in little bursts. I am worried it has spread and I don't want to go through all the tests again. I can't afford the time off work and I sort of don't want to know as well

Hello, this is Dr. David. I have read your question and am ready to help.
sounds like you had a bad bout of bronchitis or pneumonia.
often times these infections in the chest can take a long time to get over.
did you have a chest xray?
you could still have fluid or a lot of mucous still in your chest which needs to dry out.
are you bring up anything with your cough? sometimes mucinex or guaifenesin can help break up the mucous and help decrease the cough.
I didn't have a chest xray
I do bring up some stuff when I cough
I haven't had it like this before
well it sounds like an extra bad lung infection.
don't stress about recurrent breast cancer at this point, no data pointing to that.
see your doctor and get a chest xray and try some guaifenesin to see if that helps your cough and thins the sputum.
I saw the doc when I had the chest infection but she said my chest sounded clear
she gave me antibiotics anyway and said she was a bit worried the blood pressure medication was causing the cough
I have been off them a week but my chest still feels heavy and I am short of breath
no fever
ACE inhibitors can cause some serious cough
and can take 3-4 weeks for the coughs to resolve even after you stop taking the ACE inhibitor.
