I have recently had an ultrasound of my liver (I have auto-immune hepatitis) and now have been asked to attend for an MRI scan with gadolinium, what could be the reason for this?

they might have seen a small benign hemangioma in the liver on ultrasound and want to better characterize the spot on MRI scan.
