usually a biopsy of the lung nodules is needed to prove that the bladder cancer has spread to the lungs, because it is a very important thing to know because if the cancer has spread there, it is no longer curable, and so extra measures should be taken to make absolutely sure that it is bladder cancer spread to the lungs and not something else.

well it sounds like he has two aggressive cancers and if the lung cancer has not spread outside of the lungs, still can be attacked with either lung surgery or radiation and chemotherapy

his bladder cancer sounds like it has also progressed and needs a ureteral stent and can be attacked with either removing the bladder and ureter and kidney on that side and he then has to live with one kidney

these are two very big treatments.

yes, this would complicate all the treatments.

if he has bad kidneys then there is not much which can be done to fight the cancers.

transplant is usually not done in cancer patients

because they have to give a lot of immune suppressing drugs to suppress the body's reaction to reject the organ.

and these immune suppressing drugs can cause the cancer to grow even faster

organ transplantation is a very very tricky thing and very complicated.

it is a lot of effort from the transplant team and risk to the patient as well. these organs are rare and the team does not usually transplant organs into patients who are high risk. and a patient with two cancers would be extremely high risk.

especially the bladder cancer.

it is up to you and your uncle if they want to pursue this, but I believe your doctors will not consider this.

what do you mean unblocking blood problem?

do you mean unblocking the tube between the bladder and kidneys?

they have placed a ureteral stent as you mentioned and this will keep the ureter as open as possible for now.

this will allow the urine to flow out of that kidney and hopefully the kidney will recover. somewhat

only blood testing can see if that kidney has recovered some.

that stent will have to be replaced every few months to decrease chances for infection.

there might be too much scar tissue in the bladder or too much bladder tumor pressing on the ureter and ureter stent to allow flow

or the kidney itself on that side could be dead and not making any urine.

he can talk to his doctors about doing a nephrostomy tube.

this is a tube which drains the kidney from the back

an interventional radiologist puts a tube directly into the pelvis of the kidney from the back and drains the kidney from the back if the ureter is completely blocked.

they will not do this for a dead kidney

but if the kidney is still functioning, this is an option

it needs to be able to put out some sort of urine

yes, that is called kidney dialysis where a machine filters the blood when the kidneys can not.

a tube into the back directly into the kidney to drain the kidney when there is a blockage below

but it only works when the kidneys make urine

and it doesn't seem like his kidneys are making urine.
