Oldsmobile Questions? Ask a Mechanic for Answers ASAP
Hello, my name is ***** ***** I'm here to help get your problem solved.
Driving low on oil is one of the worst things you can do to a engine. The 4 cylinder is known for timing chain problems so if oil was ran low the timing chain probably jumped. Did you have the 4 cylinder engine or V6? Thanks.
Does engine turn over but not start or not even turn over?
So far things aren't sounding too promising. Next thing I'd do is see if vehicle runs on starting fluid, if not then check compression. Compression should be at least 100 psi on every cylinder, if compression is low then there is internal engine damage. Let me know how it goes or if you have more questions, thanks.
There is no safety shutdown for vehicle if it runs low on oil so there is nothing that can be reset. Keep me updated, thanks.
