I have a 1998 Oldsmobile cutlass. The vehicle was missing

Customer Question

I have a 1998 Oldsmobile cutlass. The vehicle was missing and hesitating so we changed all the plugs and wires. Still missing so we checked code and it read cylinder 2 misfiring. We changed all the coil packs, started engine, still missing and checked code which now code says Cylinder 1 is misfiring. We checked and we have fire in plug, wire and coil.

I'd start by double checking firing order incase you mixed up a wire. If that is fine then you probably have a bad injector. You can swap injector 1 with another cylinder to see if misfire follows injector, if so replace. I'd also reset codes again to see if cylinder 1 is the code that comes up again before swapping around injector. Here are replacement instructions and firing order diagram. Let me know if you have more questions, thanks.

I will try this. Is there anything else it might possibly be besides the injector? I checked wires, they are in correct order. I do have spark and I reset code.

Only other thing would be engine mechanical such as valves or piston rings and a compression test would verify that. Let me know if you have more questions, thanks.
