I have an olds cutlass ciera. The car will attempt to turn over but not gas is getting to the carburetor. I put a new fuel pump. Wat else could b da problem
Already Tried: I changed the fuel pump. If i pour gas directly into the carburetor, the car will turn over and run until that gas burn out.
Hello and thank you for trusting me with your question. My name is XXXXX XXXXX X will do my best to help you with your Oldsmobile problem. If you take the line loose at the throttle body(carburetor) and turn the key on, is there fuel coming out of the line?
I have not tried it. But I will say that usually when I engage the key I hear a click or some form of sound but I am currently not hearing the sound. Do u kno wat I'm talking bout.
Yes, the fuel pump should run when the key is first turned on for two seconds. You can normally hear the relay click and if you listen near the tank, you should hear the fuel pump run for two seconds each time the key is turned on. Can you listen for the fuel pump and let me know if you hear it runnning?
I do not hear the relay click at all when I first turn the key. I am uncertain if the fuel was placed correctly. But I was thinking that since the relay is not clicking that it was the carburetor. The relay is testing good. I am not near the car currently. What should I do if i can or can't hear it.
Your car is fuel injected, so it is not a carburetor, it is a throttle body injector. If you hear the pump run then you will need to test for injector pulse. With the air cleaner off, connect a test light across the wires on top of the fuel injector and crank the engine. The light should flash. If it does not then double check all fuses. If fuses are okay then the ignition control module is likely the problem. If you do not hear the fuel pump run, double check fuses first. Then see if the relay clicks. If it does then connec a jumper wire across from the orange wire to the gray wire at the relay to see if the fuel pump runs. If it does not then recheck connections at the fuel pump. If you need some more recommendations, let me know. I will also need the year of your vehicle and the engine size.If you would like any additional information or have more questions please don’t hesitate to ask!
