Customer Question

I have a 98 Olds 88 with about 103thousand miles. Every so often, when turning the key to
start nothing happens. If I wait about 3 or 4 minutes, it will start & run great.
Can you help???

Country: United States
Make: Oldsmobile
Model: 88
Year: 1989
Engine: 3.8 V6

Already Tried:
I have had the battery, alternator and started checked and nothing has been found. Recently, someone suggested it might be a Body Control Module. I really don't want to replace new parts without getting to the root of the problem.

Hello!

How did you check the starter?

Does the starter have battery voltage going to it on both terminals when it is not working?

Customer replied 296 days and 4 hours ago.

No--I need to check these connection.

Ok.. this is going to be the next step. If there is power to the starter motor and the starter motor is not working, the starter motor is either bad and needs to be replaced or the engine block has a bad ground. If there is no power to the starter motor when this happens, then we pull a wiring diagram and track down the problem.
