i thought I had this car figured out but I dont. I thought the fuel filter was the problem it seemed to help for a while. I changed out the egr valve and that helped the idling. The new filter fixed the slight stall when tapping on the gas. now today i got the p0101 code which tells me its the mass air flow sensor. I have taled to a few guys and kind of got the impression that the maf sensor would cause that major of a problem but maybe im wrong. When I stomp on the pedal it dies out it will run about 3000 rpm and run about 10 to 15 mph. Now I am back to the catalytic convertor wondering if that isnt plugged after all.

Hello & Welcome to JA,
From what you have said ,it does sound like a possible catalytic converter , if top rpm is 3000 & top speed is 10-15 mph.
To check a converter for restriction ,remove the engine 0/2 sensor. Install a low pressure gage in 0/2 port. Start engine & run at 1700 rpm, look at gage. If the gage reading is more than 1&1/2 psi , the converter is plugged.
