If you have a Windows computer, try going to the Canon software installed on it, and open
MP Navigator EX
(if you have that program - if not, look for 'Canon Scan') and try managing the scan with that program. It is the Canon standard program for managing scans with your type of printer.
If an error message comes up, note it down and let me know.
If you do not have either program, let me know whether you have a Windows PC or an Apple computer, and what version of Windows (or, of MAC OS X) is installed on it.
