Customer Question

Hello!
I noticed a few gentian warts, and since I am abroad, I have no access to an obgyn for a few months.
I started taking red marine algae as I red it helps. But also, I red apple cider vinegar treatment helps as well. I put it on there about 10-15 minutes at a time with a cotton pad soaked in it. And it burns so badly but I really wanted the warts to go away. But now I think I've literally burned my vagina!
Is there a way to sooth it? It literally feels like extreme itchiness and pain. Would Vaseline work? Please let me know!

Hello and thank you for your question. I’d be happy to assist you.

I understand your concern.

You should try some self care measures as you have allergic reaction to apple cider vinegar.

Take OTC Motrin and Zyrtec.

Also do cool water sitz bath with antiseptic betadine solution.

And apply OTC 0.5 % hydrocortisone cream and Bacitracin ointment.

You can also Clotrimazole or Vagistat .

Keep the vaginal / vulva area clean with washing in a shower and using antibacterial soap.

Wear loose cotton fitted clothes and undergarments to prevent friction.

If you develop blisters formation, severe pain and vaginal discharge then visit ER.

Otherwise it takes 2-3 days to get better with such measures.

Let me know if you have any further query so we can discuss it thoroughly in every aspect.
It’s my pleasure to continue this conversation until you satisfy.

Thank you for your response, I'm not sure if I'll be able to get those creams in this country. I'll try my best.Is it ok to apply imiquimod cream?Thank you for letting me 2-3 days as the time frame, if it continues after 2-3 days should I visit the ER?I very much appreciate your response.

All these medications are over the counter and easily available at nearby drugstore.

You can't use imiquimod cream currently.

You can use it when your symptoms resolve as it is used for genital warts.

The warts shrink after only 2 weeks application , but in other cases they may not go away for up to 16 weeks.

Try previous self care measures first for 2-3 days.

If you see improvement then continue same treatment for a week.

In case no respond or you develop severe symptoms then visit ER.

Hope this helps.

Hi Doctor Anil!Thank you very much for your response. I am letting it air out today and if it gets worse then I will go get the medication. Furthermore, I have also used imiquimod last night. Will this pose an issue?Should I keep my vagina wet or dry?Right now it's very red, I fear that it is not that I have an allergic reaction to apple cider vinegar but more of an acid burn.
Expert:  Dr Anil Kumar replied 4 months ago.

You should keep vagina dry.

And avoid imiquimod for a while.

Hope this helps.
