Hello, my friend she's expecting and she has been smoking during pregnancy till 6 months .. So can she do her stem cell banking for umbilical cord? Is it safe and worth it to do? Thankyou

she can still do stem cell banking from her umbilical cord for the baby.

it can be expensive since the stem cells have to be stored in frozen for a long period of time.

and the chances of needing this stem cell is rare, since it is only used in rare bone marrow transplant procedures currently to treat bone marrow cancers.

cancer centers can get matching stem cells from relatives or from stem cell banks sometimes in the future if the stem cells are needed for bone marrow transplantation.

we didn't do the stem cell banking for our child

but it is up to her if she wishes to do it

that is good she stopped smoking.
