Customer Question

This has been on my breast on the under side for a week. I've tried acne medicine and cortisone and nothing is working. Still there. Is this Inflammatory breast cancer?

Expert:  Dr David replied 1 year ago.

This is Dr. David

that is not inflammatory breast cancer.

that is skin hyperpigmentation, like a large freckle or from a prior blocked skin pore.

it is not cancerous.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I continuously get blemishes on my breast in different areas. How do I distinguish a blemish from a cancer on my skin from inflammatory breast cancer. Online I read it appears to be a bug bite. So would that be an inflamed bug bite? Or a small blemish? It's quite scary to be ill informed and not seek medica attention if it could be something serious
Expert:  Dr David replied 1 year ago.

you don't have to worry about inflammatory breast cancer which is super rare and would cause diffuse redness all over your breast along with breast swelling

it doesn't appear to be a bug bite. it is redness of the skin all over your breast along with breast swelling.

Dr David. Cortisone seems to make this smaller and less noticeable and then in the morning it is noticeable and bigger again. I've tried acne medicine too. It's still present. Any suggestions? My main concern is inflammatory breast cancer.
Expert:  Dr David replied 1 year ago.

you can use hydrocortisone cream for 1-2 weeks only

you don't have inflammatory breast cancer.

cortisone wouldn't help inflammatory breast cancer.

Ok. So that fact that this gets smaller and then bigger with cream points to a pore or pimple?
Expert:  Dr David replied 1 year ago.

yes,

not inflammatory breast cancer.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Ok. And as a cancer Doctor, inflammatory breast cancer always happens quickly and is inflamed and swollen? Always? Or is it ever a pimple
Expert:  Dr David replied 1 year ago.

it is never a pimple.

it happens quickly as breast cancer spreads through the dermal lymphatics of the skin and cause breast swelling and redness

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Ok. I wish this would go away. I'm so worried every day. I feel as if maybe the cream I use is making redness more prominent but I'm afraid to put not cream and it spread
Expert:  Dr David replied 1 year ago.

you are letting your anxiety get out of control with worry

you need to see a doctor about your anxiety symptoms to get your symptoms treated

or else you will continue to worry

I have told you already not to worry

but you keep worrying

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Ok. You would suggest me to see someone if this looked worrisome right?
Expert:  Dr David replied 1 year ago.

I am a cancer doctor

I have looked at it

it is not worrisome.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Thank you. I want to add that I have pityasis rosea on my stomach and back. It little patches and one bigger patch. It's been two weeks. I wonder if this is from that? I saw a derm that diagnosed me and gave me cream. But he didn't say anything about my breast or see it.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I just want to know that if the spot minimizes with cream that it isn't cancer because cancer wouldn't respond to cortisone. That's what j need to know so I don't freak out over this
Expert:  Dr David replied 1 year ago.

Dr David. I'm having a very bad worry. Sick with worry. I read online about inflammatory breast cancer. And people are writing that it could be a rash like I have or spotchiness. I've had this for one week. I am so so scared. What should I do here? Is IBC a raised skin or rash? Like dermititis? Or under the skin? People are saying it started with what looked like a flea bite. I am 30. I am panicking
Expert:  Dr David replied 1 year ago.

I have told you to stop reading about inflammatory breast cancer online.

it only worsens your anxiety.

but you don't listen to me.

you need treatment for your anxiety symptoms.

you don't have inflammatory breast cancer.

I am a cancer doctor who treats patients who have inflammatory breast cancer.

you need to stop listening to people online who don't know what they are talking about and are not doctors

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Can I request a phone call
Expert:  Dr David replied 1 year ago.

sure.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Dr David,
In the morning, this spot is there but still smaller. As I put cream on it and touch it and check it. It gets more pink and a larger splotch.I read online that IBC is under the skin like an infection. But I see photos online about it on top of the skin too. Which was is it?Also, would this spot have gotten bigger and spread in a weeks time? Is this just a pore? There seems to be irritated blood vessels around it.Is cortisone hurting me more? I keep adding it. I'm so so so panicked. Can you please try to explain a little more to help me
Expert:  Dr David replied 1 year ago.

inflammatory breast cancer is under the skin and spreads through the dermal lymphatics under the skin.

it doesn't look like a bug bite. this is incorrect.

you need to stop touching the area and stop checking on it.

it is not inflammatory breast cancer.

use of cortisone for more than 2 weeks can thin the skin. you should stop using the cortisone

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Dr David. I stopped cortisone and washed it. It's been 4 hours. This is two photos of it that look much less red. I'm hoping that anything the fluctuates in color isn't a cancer
Expert:  Dr David replied 1 year ago.

I have told you already it isn't cancer.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Dr David,
The spot I was very worried about has cleared. I had a hot day in the sun and now this is under the crease of my breast. Is this concerning? Can something like cancer wax and wane?
Expert:  Dr David replied 1 year ago.

there is no cancer.

cancer does not wax and wane.

Expert:  Dr David replied 1 year ago.

yes, I saw the photo.

that is just a little heat rash.

it is not breast cancer.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Can you just give me some info?
Is inflammatory breast cancer rare? Mainly affecting older women or does it happen more in younger? G
Expert:  Dr David replied 1 year ago.

it is super rare

it usually happens in younger women before menopause.

but it is very rare type of cancer.

you need to stop worrying about it.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Ok. I am 31. So I'm before menopause.
Expert:  Dr David replied 1 year ago.

you still don't have to worry about inflammatory breast cancer.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Is there any risk factors? Or does it randomly occur
Expert:  Dr David replied 1 year ago.

it is pretty random.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Reading about it and how it isn't usually a good survival rate is so scary. It's like a death sentence. Obviously any blemish or redness I become so concerned. Some reports say it's a patch and others say it sends women to the ER first it is so noticeable. I don't know what to believe or look for
Expert:  Dr David replied 1 year ago.

I have told you to stop reading about inflammatory breast cancer.

you also need to talk to your doctor about this anxiety you are having.

and start to see a psychotherapist about this anxiety you have about inflammatory breast cancer.

I have been helping you on this question from November 11 and you still continue to worry.

the previous blemish resolved and you still continue to worry

this is not healthy for you.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I know. I try to get facts from you to combat my fears and worries.
I want to know what to be looking for
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Tomorrow is my birthday. I'm 31. I wanted this all behind me.
Expert:  Dr David replied 1 year ago.

you don't need to be looking for symptoms

this will only worsen your anxiety symptoms.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I know. I just want to know, I guess, that it's rare under 40. Or doesn't occur. Or that the symptoms are very obvious.
Expert:  Dr David replied 1 year ago.

the symptoms are very obvious.

it is super rare under 40

you need to stop worrying about infllammatory breast cancer.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Ok. I have to admit that reading about it is very scary. As it's like a rash. But, I believe that it would be more like mastitis which is a hurting sore and hardened feeling breast

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
