I was just in the hospital after a 4 day stay after my WBC

This answer was rated:

I was just in the hospital after a 4 day stay after my WBC was 0 from chemo. After being released my vagina started itching a day and I feel like I have a pus near my anus . I picked up some anti itch cream but have chemo tomorrow. Is it still safe to do chemo? I plan on still doing chemo but wanted an opinion first because they found no case of my WBC being at 0 and I was just pumped day after day of antibiotics and was curious if this was a side effect.

Dr. Owen :

Hello, I am Dr Owen, I am a Board Certified Ob/Gyn Medical Doctor and I want to help you.

Dr. Owen :

Hello you have a WBC of zero still?

Dr. Owen :

But what you probably have is a Yeast infection - this is VERY common to have with a white count of zero and then being put on antibiotics too.

Customer:

No my WBC has come back up to a normal range they are still going ahead with the chemo. I got bloodwork today and they said my numbers looked fine. I just pumped with a lot of antbiotics every 8 hours in the hospital because they could not figure out what was wrong with me. They still never did.

Dr. Owen :

Usually to prevent a yeast and/or fungal infection you should be on a daily medication of Diflucan -

Dr. Owen :

I'm glad to see you have your white count back up

Dr. Owen :

So, YOU can do your chemo

Dr. Owen :

These symptoms will NOT prevent you from getting chemo

Dr. Owen :

JUST ask your doctor for a prescription of Diflucan

Dr. Owen :

I hope this helps

Customer:

Should I just inform the oncologist tomorrow prior to my chemo so they can get me some cream or medicine

Dr. Owen :

If you have more questions please ask

Dr. Owen :

Yes, just tell the oncologist you would like a prescription to diflucan

Customer:

okay thanks I will:) I appreciate your help. I will not worry about it until tomorrow. I got so much stress already.
