what's your height/weight?
do you notice an odor or is it just blood?
5 foot 3, around 160 pounds
and I'm not really sure
are your periods normally pretty regular?
ok. do you have any unusual problems with unwanted hair..such as on your face or chest? significant acne problems?
and as I understand it..this just happened and it happened once before?
not something that happens all the time?
I've had brown discharge quite a few times around a week after a period but not with a bit of blood or the minor cramping
ok. any specific stressful events during those times?
Exams/midterms, one time I had noticed it after a change in my diet but it's happened a few times without stressful events
and you are not sexually active now..correct?
have you been sexually active before?
ok..how long ago?
about a year and a half
so here's what I'm thinking
at 20 years old...this is very unlikely to be anything serious.
stress, anxiety, etc certainly can cause abnormal bleeding
something that I would like you to at least consider is a thyroid test as that can cause it too
no risk of pregnancy based upon your response.
doesn't sound like much risk of infection either
normally you would notice an odor associated with the blood/discharge.
if there is one it isn't strong
so, right now you have a reasonable explanation for this with the stress of your exams.
and I would just leave it at that for now.
if that's the cause this will resolve with time.
if it continues after your exams are done..I would recommend seeing your doctor...
and having your thyroid checked
an ultrasound and a pelvic exam done
only if it continues, or if it stops and happens again?
well...basically, transient things are not a concern...
so if you have an exam and are stressed...that's a reasonable explanation.
once that goes away you should be back to normal.
if it continues or happens when you don't seem to have the same stress..I would see your doctor.
I don't think so
Thank you very much
