reading over some forums and see a lot of ladies discussing about IVF seem to be so concerned about their FSH level on day 3 of their cycle. Some are like 7...11...what does that mean? Mine is 5.5. is that good or not?

Dr. Pfeiffer :

Dr. Pfeiffer :

basically as the ovarian reserve (number of eggs remaining) diminish it takes higher levels of FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) to get an egg to grow and hopefully ovulate.

Dr. Pfeiffer :

the higher the number on day 3 the worse outlook on ovulating..thus, pregnancy.

Dr. Pfeiffer :

5.5 is fine.

Dr. Pfeiffer :

you might also ask your doctor about a test called AMH (antimullarian hormone), which is even better than the FSH at checking ovarian reserve.
