Hi i am 20 years old sexually active not on any birth control i've had my period 3 times in the month of july on/off experiencening some light cramping, spotting of blood and a lot of dark brown discharge i just had a normal pap smear done 2 weeks ago i've been bleeding since July 2nd today is the 26th why is this please help!
How regular were you periods before all this bleeding started? Thank you.
my periods were pretty regular lasted about 4-5 days and painful cramps. my doctor perscribed me with Naproxen they seem to help a little. but now these cramps are very mild there is no odor. what could be wrong Doctor Norman? any answers?
Did your first period in July come when expected? Is there any chance you're pregnant?
Yes my first period July 2nd was expected because my last period was June 2nd
It's hard to know, since it's not typical of anything. If you had missed a period, I would suspect either that you're pregnant with a possible miscarriage, or that you didn't ovulate last month. When a woman doesn't ovulate, the uterine lining can build up too much, and then there can be irregular bleeding like you're having. However, the period doesn't usually start when expected. If you were older, I would suspect fibroid tumors of the uterus, but that would be rare at age 20. An STD can cause irregular bleeding, so if that's possible, I would see your doctor for testing. Since you've been bleeding 3 times in July, it's probably best to see your doctor anyway to figure out what's going on. A blood test for hcg will determine if there is any pregnancy. If not, I suspect the problem is hormonal due to not ovulating in the past month. I hope that's helpful.
I had a pap smear 2 weeks ago everything came back normal no std's or infections. Blood or urine was not taken so i'm not sure of pregnancy. I know when I ovulate and i did ovulate last month June 16.
Since you're sure that you ovulated, then I think pregnancy with possible miscarriage is the most likely cause for the bleeding. If so, it usually takes care of itself with time, one way or the other. If the bleeding continues, then your doctor can figure it out for sure.
not much bleeding just some very light spotting lots and lots of dark brown almost black discharge.
The brown/black discharge is blood that is coming out slowly and turning brown in the vagina from oxidation. If you are pregnant, there is still a chance it could survive as long as the bleeding doesn't get heavy, although probably not likely.
Thank you for your payment.
