Hi I am a 40 yr. who mis-carried on May 28 only four days after finding out I was about 4 weeks along. I did not have to have a D&C as my body cleaned itself out and hcg levels were down to normal within two days after miscarriage. My cycle has always been regular at 28 days. However, my period has not started; due on June 24. My husband and I have had some unprotected sex during this past time. I am now four days late, experiencing some cramping, extremely tired, some nausea, headaches and very moody. So far two home pregnancy tests have come back negative, but I am wondering what is going on with me. Can you help?

Hello, and I am pleased to help, use of my answers are for educational purposes only.
Which pregnancy tests did you use?
Hello
And, you started the miscarriage on the 28th of May, correct?
Helloo
Are you there
Since you just had a miscarriage you might not be ovulating when you thought you did
so, you might not get a period when you should think you should -
So you might have ovulated just a week ago
And, hence if that is the case IF you are pregnant - then the test might not be positive for another week
So I still could be pregnant but to early to tell?
So, it is very hard to predict when you will ovulate and when you will have a period (if you are not pregnant) soon after a miscarriage
So, Yes, you could
Sorry for not responding earlier, my computer was acting up.
What you might be feeling is the corpus luteum cyst producing progesterone to support a pregnancy
that is okay - I wait
So, try doing another pregnancy test next week if your period does not come.
Also, you might have an elevated Prolactin level given you just had a miscarrige too.
so, in either case - you should be on a prenatal vitamin if you still want to get pregnant.
I hope this helps Please, if you have more questions, please ask

My doctor ran labs two days after the miscarriage and said all blood work was normal. What is Prolactin level?
Prolactin is made in the pituitary gland and does increase in pregnancy - usually elevated Postpartum to help breast feed
Ok, I had never heard of that before but makes sense. Thank you for explaining it to me.
I guess I will try not to stress over this and wait another week.
You are welcome
