Hi I am wanting some other opinions about my complaints.I am a 28yr old female (will be 29 in august). I have been having constant heavy periods for the past 18mths-2yrs. I am lucky to have 1 day of no bleeding a month, I clot and have extremely bad period pain to the point i sometimes can not get out of bed. I have PCOS. I have 3 step children who live with my husband and I. My husband is 38yrs old and has had a vasectomy as we do not want anymore children. I have biploar as does my father. I do not wish to have children as I do not want to risk the chance of my children having biploar also, it is not very nice to live with and as our youngest child will be 13 this year I do not wish to go back to screaming babies, dirty nappies and no sleep.I have had every blood test imaginable, ultrasounds, pap smears. I have had a D&C and a mirena inserted, have had depo shots, yasmin and other pills and nothing has worked. My marriage is close to breaking down as I am constantly moody, tired and we are never intimate. This is infair to my husband and family.I have requested a hysterectomy but the specialists are totally against it. Is there any medical reason for me not to be able to have a hysterectomy???
Hello, and I am pleased to help, use of my answers are for educational purposes only.WOW - it seems like you have really run the entire testing and just ABOUT everything to help you in terms of treatment. Now there are just 2 possible treatments - The first would be an Ablation - this is cauterizing the inside of your uterus (essentially burning) - and one method for you would be the Novasure method - see www.novasure.comAnd, a Hysterectomy is VERY reasonable and I'm sure doctors are hesitant because of your age - HOWEVER, as long as you are counseled and you appropriately understand then a hysterectomy is reasonable. And, you should KEEP your ovaries for this.I hope this helpsIf you have more questions, please askThank you
So there is no medical reason for not performing this? Only the obvious reasons being my age and the fact that I have never given birth?
What would be the reason for keeping my ovaries versus a total hysterectomy?
You actually fit the criteria for a hysterectomy with ALL the failed medical management that you have had.So just age age no children.YOu would want to keep your ovaries so you are NOT going through early menopause - as this would help with your bones to prevent early osteoporosis for example.I hope this helpsPlease provide Excellent - Satisfied feedbackThank you
