I have been bleeding continuiously since feb 11 sometime lite sometime heavy with big clots. bowl motions and getting aroused make the bleeding heavier. I have requested a hysterectomy, but the doctors are turning me down. One even put me on a new pill which made the bleeding and period pain so bad I was in bed for weeks. I have tried IUD's, depo injections, hormone trouches, I am 40 years old, I have had PCOS since a teenager, in younger years tried IVF and without sucess. my husband has mental illness, and family history of mental illness, I have downs history in my family, we have no children and don't want any for the above reasons. I have an appointment with another specialist tomorrow and would like to know if there is any medical reason why not to do this operation. I am so sick of not having a normal life.

Greetings,As you are 40 years, no child, if you wish to try for baby later on, so the doctors are trying with conservative medical management. Besides that, we always try first medical management. If those do not help, then hysterectomy is considered. Tomorrow visit can assess further whether hysterectomy is essential. If you have any query, please feel free to ask. It will be my privilege to assist you. Regards.
I have no wish for a baby as the risks are to great, What medical reason is stopping this from going ahead? If I fell pregenant now I would abort it. What other things can be done?
What tests did you have for the bleeding?
The doctors have all done their own blood tests and ultra sounds, one even gave me another pap smear, They all say yes I have PCOD abut otherwise good is all I am told
As the tests did not reveal any cause, hysterectomy can be done as medicines and other measures are not helping. Uterine ablation can be tried before hysterectomy if the doctor thinks that it can help.
