Customer Question

My girlfriend is on regular oral birthcontrol and isn't quite diligent on it. And this weekend she actually threw one pill up. We had a condom leakage during intercourse and we got plan B. She did take her regular birthcontrol this morning and she wanted to take Plan B asap. I am scared that this is to much hormone all in one day and I feel that she should just continue taking her regular birth control. However, I just want to be certain that if she took plan b that she could continue on her regular cycle tomorrow?

Hello, and thank you for your question. I will be happy to assist you. Answers are for educational purposes only.

I would recommend taking the plan B today and then resuming with her birth control pill the next day after completing plan B. However, she should start with a new pack of pills when she restarts the birth control pill. She should then take a pregnancy test in about two weeks to be sure. It also wouldn't hurt to use backup (such as condoms or spermicide) for the whole next month of the pill to be safe. I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if I can answer any additional questions. Positive feedback is greatly appreciated.
