I had a pelvic ultrasound and trans vag the other day. 58 post meno. no bleeding, no pain, lining is at 3.6 now, was 3.1 last time. dr. feels polyp is increasing the lining. said it is consistent where polyps were taken out before. this will be the 3rd d and c within 1 1/2 yrs.have trans vag and ultrasound every 3 to 6 months. paps are always normal. I would not get hyester. unlesss necessary but this is getting ridiculous that every time I have this appt they are starting to make me anxious. said ovaries and the fibroids I have are no problem. in the fall I have some very big things going on, I feel that I will have this d and c and then wait 4 to 5 months for the next one even if the dr says three months. At that time I will have my fall activities overwith, get my pap smear, and get this retested. I do not want to mention this to my dr.......do you feel this would be a problem. thanks.

Hello I can help you with this question
Why was the ultrasound done initially? Possibly to evaluate the fibroids?
There is no reason to have 3 D and C's in 1.5 years to remove polyps. Is the uterine lining 3.6 mm? The mm part is important. If the endometrial stripe is 4 mm in a postmenopausal women, the risk of uterine cancer is close to zero and it does not need to be pursued. 3.6 mm is a normal finding.
If polyps are being followed up, I see no need to do anything but repeat the ultrasound in a year at most
If the measurement is 3.6 cm (centimeters) then this is very thick, and must be pursued surgically.
After 3 d and c's if its that thick, you may need to consider hysterectomy
You will need to know if that measurement is mm or cm
What questions do you have?
sorry my error. endo lining is 3.6 not uterine lining. I also have .6 of fluid they said but she always drains this out. d and c's were done because the endo lining was thick.
so you think that I am doing pretty good then.
Yes I know its the endometrial lining/thickness. Still need to know if it is mm or cm. It matters alot
it is mm because they said they do not want a post meno woman going being 4 mm. definitely mm. dr so do you think I am going okay.
Yes, there is no concern with anything less than 4 mm. 3 D and C's is enough to rule out cancer. Most gyns would say you are safe in rebiopsy in a year. Office biopsy and ultrasound may be sufficient.
if she says to come back in 3 months I am going to wait at least the 4 1/2 with my fall traveling, etc. thank you very much. now of course if anything serious I would be right at the offfice. but thank you very much. you hae put me at ease.
You are welcome and Im sure you will be fine.
