Dr. Owen :

Hello, and I am pleased to help, use of my answers are for educational purposes only.

Dr. Owen :

Well sometimes your body can adjust to this such that you might not be as anemic as you think.

Dr. Owen :

But since you have been bleeding for awhile you are more than likely to have a hemocrit of about 30 to 36 which is anemic, but it could be even less than that.

Dr. Owen :

And, depends on how heavy your bleeding is.

Dr. Owen :

So, I would recommend seeing what your Hemoglobin and hematocrit numbers are to start.

Dr. Owen :

Then you need to get evaluated by your ob/gyn to see WHY you are bleeding.

Dr. Owen :

This could be hormonal

Dr. Owen :

This could be a thyroid condition

Dr. Owen :

This could be a polyp

Dr. Owen :

This could be cervical disease.

Dr. Owen :

So, you do need a pelvic exam,

Dr. Owen :

And, you need a PAP smear if you have not had one in over a year

Dr. Owen :

And, you need a pelvic ultrasound too possibly or even a hysteroscopy and or a D&C.

Dr. Owen :

Now, you can try using a birth control pill, or even the Mirena IUD to help.

Dr. Owen :

Also you need a blood TSH thyroid blood test

Dr. Owen :

I hope this helps

Dr. Owen :

Thank you for your questions

Dr. Owen :

Do you have any additional

Dr. Owen :

Sorry for all the information I just put here

Dr. Owen :

If you have more questions, please ask

Customer : Its heavy bleeding and with alot of blood clits. I have the mirena.
Dr. Owen :

Oh, if you have having problems with dizziness, headaches, weakness, short of breath - then you are probably anemic.

Dr. Owen :

You then need to get a Hysteroscopy and get more of an evaluation - and you probably need a D&C too.

Dr. Owen :

The Mirena might not be doing anything if you have a Polyp or even a fibroid you might have

Customer : I have some geadaches, heatflashes, tired alot. Buy i have two little so thats probably why im tired.
Dr. Owen :

So, given all that I have outlined for you I think you will and should be able to get this under control

Dr. Owen :

You might have a Thyroid condition - such as hypothyroidism which can contribute to your bleeding and a TSH thyroid blood test will help and if you have hypothyroidism then a medication called Synthroid will help

Dr. Owen :

I hope this helps

Dr. Owen :

And given all your symptoms and heavy bleeding, please get this evaluated by your doctor.

Dr. Owen :

And, you should have this done so that you can get treated appropriately

Dr. Owen :

Thank you for your questions.

Customer : I have had a bacteria test and came back ok. And they did a ultra sound on thursday.
Dr. Owen :

Great -

Dr. Owen :

I would recommend getting a hysteroscopy - a camera directly in the uterus to look to see if you have a polyp

Dr. Owen :

And, sometimes you might just need to scrap the material out of the uterus called a D&C, and then you can have a Mirena reinserted.

Dr. Owen :

And, this should help

Dr. Owen :

I hope this helps

Dr. Owen :

Please click on ACCEPT, thank you

Dr. Owen :

And, Excellent Feedback is appreciated, thank you

Dr. Owen :

But, think positively and THIS can be treated, it really can

Dr. Owen :

You need an ob/gyn who is will to really help you.

Dr. Owen :

Thank you for your questions

Customer : I have a mirena. So have them take it out and do that and put another one in.
Dr. Owen :

Yes, after a D&C to scrap out the lining -

Dr. Owen :

You might have a polyp in there too and taking that out would help if you have a polyp.

Dr. Owen :

I hope this all helps -

Dr. Owen :

do you have any additional quesitons

Dr. Owen :

questions

Dr. Owen :

So, I would recommend printing this out

Customer : It just feels like he doesnt want to do anything. The dr keeps saying i dont think you understand the mirena.
Dr. Owen :

And, give this to your doctor or at least discuss with your doctor all that I have talked about.

Dr. Owen :

Sounds like your doctor is not interested.

Dr. Owen :

That is a sign that you should look to a new ob/gyn to help you

Dr. Owen :

You can go to this website for names of new ob/gyn's in your area

As long as you are not having heavy bleeding and you are not soaking through pads, you should be fine to wait.
