I have PCOS and have not had a period for over 8 years. I finally had a period for 7 days in May and June. Towards the end of June I started have a heavy flow of brown discharge, which has since slowed. Now, I still have some brown discharge enough to see on toliet paper when I wipe. I am married so I am not concerned about STDs. However I am concerned about being pregnant. I have tested and the test are negative could I still be pregnant or is the brown discharge something else. Not able to go to doctor, no insurance and no company will pick me up too many prexisting conditions.

have you been on birth control over the last 8 years?
no
Ok..this is actually a bit concerning.
no periods for 8 years and no birth control pills means you have been exposed to unopposed estrogen for nearly 8 years...this increases your risk for uterine cancer...and this bleeding could be from uterine hyperplasia or even uterine cancer.
Pregnancy is possible, but unlikely..and, you need to find a way to see someone about this. You need an ultrasound and biopsy of the uterine lining.
Try planned parenthood or see if there is a gynecologist in your area that can help you...apply for federal or state aid..but please follow up on this.
I'm happy to answer follow up questions as needed, but remember to click 'accept'.thank you so much.Dr. Pfeiffer
