My wife was prescribed 210mg Ferrous Fumarate three times a day to treat anaemia (her HB level is 10.8). She is pregnant (11th week) and also takes folic acid. Is this dosage too high or is it acceptable?
Hello, and I am pleased to help, use of my answers are for educational purposes only.
Actually this dosage is just fine - the biggest concern is really with constipation as much iron (ferrous) can cause constipation - so I would recommend that she be on a Stool softener such as colace or doculsate, along with a fiber that she takes every morning, and make sure she is taking 500mg of Vitamin C every day too.
I hope this helps, Please click on ACCEPT, thank you for your questions.
