Did you have 24-hour urine cortisol tested? Did you have an overnight dexamethasone supression test?
Do you have a round or puffy face? Do you have fat aorund the neck and upper oart of the back?
Do you have thin, fragile skin? Do you have wide pruplish strethc marks on the body?
Do you have loss of muscle tone and strength? Backache?
How tall are you? How mcuh do you weigh?
You might have dysfunction of thyroid (hypothyroidism) which also causes a high prolactin level although it doesn't cause high blood pressure and high blood glucose.
Do you have the following symptoms?
  • Coarse and thinning hair.
  • Dry skin.
  • Brittle nails.
  • A yellowish tint to the skin.
  • Slow body movements.
  • Cold skin.
  • Inability to tolerate cold.
  • Feeling tired, sluggish, or weak.
  • Memory problems, depression, or difficulty concentrating.
  • Constipation.
  • Heavy or irregular menstrual periods that may last longer than 5 to 7 days.

Other, less common symptoms may include:

  • An enlarged thyroid gland.
  • Modest weight gain, often 10lb or less.
  • Swelling of the arms, hands, legs, and feet, and facial puffiness, particularly around the eyes.
  • Hoarseness.
  • Muscle aches and cramps.

I have a round puffy face with a double chin. I look like I have a softball at the top of my back. I am 5'4 and now weigh 223 pounds. 6 months ago I weighed 180. I have been seeing a chiropractor for low back pain and headaches. I don't think I have had any of the above labs. I have had a lot, but those don't sound familiar.

I am extremly fatigue and it hurts to walk up steps...my knees are so week.

I am going to see a Fertitlity Specialists in 3 weeks, but the headaches and depression and fatigue are getting to me.

Help!

  • Acne, oily skin, or dandruff
  • Weight gain or obesity with extra weight around the waist
  • Male-pattern baldness or thinning hair
  • Patches of skin on the neck, arms, breasts, or thighs that are thick and dark brown or black
  • Skin tags — excess flaps of skin in the armpits or neck area

I have been seeing an OBGYN, but know I am going to see a Hormonal Specialists

I don't think you have Cushing's disease. But since I am still short of the information about urine cortisol, blood ACTH, dexamethasone suppression test. I couldn't say it is Cushing's syndrome or polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). They have very similar symptoms (weight gain, diabetes, hypertension, male hair pattern, irregular periods, etc.). PCOS is caused by imbalances of hormones. It sometimes has multiple cysts in ovaries. PCOS sometimes accompanies by high blood prolactin. Until you see a hormonal specialist, you should ask your doctor medications to reduce your symptoms like high blood pressure medication, medication to reduce blood prolaction. You should ask him/her to refer a dietitian who can help plan out a diet and possibly exercise program with you.
