My 90 year old mother has been bleeding from her vagina a little

Resolved Question:

My 90 year old mother has been bleeding from her vagina a little bit for the last few days. She had a complete historechtomy when she was 49. We are not sure if she still has her cervex. What are some of the possible reasons for this bleeding?
Thank you,
Linda Hauser

HelloCustomer

The causes of vaginal bleeding after a hysterectomy include -

  • granulation tissue (healing tissue growing on its own)
  • prolapse of a fallopian tube
  • endometriosis of the end of the vagina
  • atrophic vaginitis due to low estrogen levels and traumatic irritation
  • a cancerous growth at the end of vagina
  •

Your mother needs to be seen by a gynaecologist and she should see one early to confirm the diagnosis. Thanks.
