I had profuse vaginal bleeding during intercourse. I am 40 ...

Resolved Question:

I had profuse vaginal bleeding during intercourse. I am 40 years old and on birth control pills. It was not time for my period. The blood was bright red. This happened last night and since then I''ve had some cramping and a backache but not much bleeding.

Hello

The profuse bleeding after intercourse can be due to number of causes like cervical dysplasia(precancerous changes),infections like chlamydia, gonorrhea, trichomoniasis, vaginal yeast infection.Other causes are:vaginitis or cervicitis, cervical polyps, uterine polyps,endometritis.Post-coital bleeding or vaginal bleeding after sex should not be ignored & definitely be checked by your doctor.

So I advice you to consult your gynecologist for the clinical examination to find out the root cause of bleeding after sex & then take the treatment.

Reply toCustomers Post: The bleeding was during sex, not after...and it was quite profuse and bright red. Could it be due to a cervical polyp or cyst?
