JA: Have you checked the battery, particularly the terminal connections? Are they corroded?
Customer: No I haven't
JA: Are you fixing your Altima yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I was trying to. I changed the brake switch as a couple online forums suggested but still won't start
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: At first the light switch on the dash would come on and there was a clicking noise. Now there is nothing.and sometimes after messing with it the doors won't lock but after a while they will

Customer: replied 8 days ago.
I'm not sure. I am able to move it but it is stiff

If you put the remote into the slot, do you have a Yellow key light on? If you press the start button 2 times with out stepping on the brake pedal, does all the dash warning lights com on?

No yellow light when I insert key fob. Orange light indicating I put the key fob on there with a pic of a key and an arrow. Lights on dash do not come on when I press the button twice without pushing on the brake pedal.

Did you try jump starting the car by any chance?

Customer: replied 8 days ago.
No i didn't

Lets give that a try and see if it's simply a weak battery causing your issue

Customer: replied 8 days ago.

Any other suggestions if it isn't the battery? I'm baffled how one day it is working totally fine and the next it isn't working at all.
Customer: replied 8 days ago.
Hello

By the sounds of it, you don't have warning lights indicating a issue. So it could be something as simple as the battery

Customer: replied 8 days ago.
What if the steering wheel becomes locked? What should I do?
Customer: replied 8 days ago.
There is a light I see now that is blinking. It is a small red car with a key in it. What does that mean?

That is the security light. It's normal for that light to flash

Customer: replied 8 days ago.
I just got a jump. It started. Waited and started it again but it wouldn't work. Jumped it again and now it's on.

So it looks like it's a battery issue like I thought!

I have another car with a new battery. Could I swap them out?

If it's the same battery.. Sure..

Customer: replied 8 days ago.
Same as in brand, size? What exactly? My other car is an 01 pt cruiser Chrysler.

The battery terminals have to be in the same spot, and it has to be around the same CCA battery

Customer: replied 8 days ago.
I think you were right about the battery and it just needed a charge. Thank you!
