In order for me to assist you the repair I must know what fault is turning on the check engine light. so, if you dont have a code reader, I would suggest you go to autozone and have them do it. its a free service. write the code/s down then let me know what they are. thank you.

if the car shuts off while driving its going to be because an electronic component is overheating, i.e. crankshaft sensor, camshaft sensor...etc
