1998 Nissan frontier the cluster is erratic you have to tap it to make work so the tachometer and speed works but my transmission shifting goes bad when the cluster goes bad but when I tap it and start working shifting is better but it wont shift to 4th gear
JA: Have you checked the level of your transmission fluid? Is it bright red, or is it dirty?
Customer: fluid is good level is good
JA: Are you fixing your Frontier yourself? What have you tried so far?

Customer: I need to know if the cluster been bas any to do with the transmission shifting erratic

Welcome, I'm Chris (aka Moose), my normal schedule online is around lunch and after dinner till early morning.

The loss of speed signal is what is causing the transmission shifting issues. You will need to remove the instrument cluster and confirm no loose connectors, wires, or connector pins. If all are good then the instrument clsuter will need to be replaced.
