Hi Im David, thanks for visiting the site. first of all why in the world do you want to know how to do a bypass of the knock sensors?

Customer: replied 28 days ago.
I am having problems with 2000 Nissan frontier. 3.3 V6. All at once rough idle run about 4 min smell of gas both manifolds and converters turn red dies won't run then all of this just happened at once. I have gutted the converters. New spark plugs dist cap . rot button. Dignostic showed no codes. Don't know what else to try. And after this it still does this removed the Maf sensor no change

bypassing the knock sensors, first is possible but not recommended , second it has nothing to do with what is going on with the vehicle.

Expert:  david craig replied 28 days ago.

it is probably a timing issue, so the first thing i would do is put the engine at tdc and check the timing marks

Customer: replied 28 days ago.
I don't have a gouge to do that. What c
An i do
Customer: replied 28 days ago.
Any suggestions what I can do to narrow the problem down. Thank you sincerely. Margaret
Expert:  david craig replied 28 days ago.

you dont need a gauge. remove the number one spark plug, turn the crank manually until #1 piston come all the way up on its compression stroke. you can use a long screwdriver or extension to stick in the spark plug whole to watch it rise to the top. once you are there you will need to look at the crankshaft pulley and the camshaft sprockets to see if the timing marks are lined up

when you turn the key to the run position(not start) does the c.e.l. come on?

Customer: replied 27 days ago.
for a min then goes out
I looked at that also to make sure it was working
Expert:  david craig replied 27 days ago.

it should not go out until the engine is started.

Customer: replied 27 days ago.
Sorry that's what I ment by a min. Till I crank it
Expert:  david craig replied 27 days ago.

oh, ok

Expert:  david craig replied 27 days ago.

check the timing is next. or do a compression test. there is nothing left to check until i know the results of those.

Customer: replied 27 days ago.
Ok will try that is their a way to check timing with out light or will the compression test do this
Expert:  david craig replied 27 days ago.

you dont need a light to check timing. you put [email protected] and look at the marks on the crank shft pulley and he camshaft sprockets.. a compression test will verify the overall health of the engine.
