On that 2004 Nissan Quest I also get P0037, bank 1 sensor 2

Customer Question

On that 2004 Nissan Quest I also get P0037, bank 1 sensor 2 HO2S12 Heater Control Circuit Low.The spark plugs are black and gas mileage has been terrible. I assume that fixing the Cyl 3 misfire (coil and plugs hopefully) that will solve issues with the sensor, what do you think? Are there are things I should consider or do?

Hello my name is ***** ***** thank you for your question.

The code P0037 is for a Bank 1 Sensor 2 02 sensor heater. Each 02 sensor has a heater and this code indicates that the heater for this 02 sensor is not working properly. So this sensor will need to be replaced.

As for the poor miles per gallon, can we talk about that later this evening? I am currently working.

Let me know.

Ok so to clarify this is unlrelated to the P0303 misfire?
Expert:  Jay replied 3 months ago.

correct, the misfire code would not cause the heater in the 02 sensor to fail or cause the 02 sensor heater code. The 02 sensor heater code could cause the vehicle to run rich or lean though. But there are some other things that can do that as well. I figured I would share my other thought on that later this evening since I am working right now and won't be later.
